Really distant super cropped.
Detalles de la observación
Coming back from my parked car, I spotted a "crow" alight near the top of a distant pine tree. Classic flight behavior and coloration of a Lewis's Woodpecker. Adult seen perched at top of pine tree to southwest of parking lot. Flew up and around the western hillside briefly but was aggressively attacked and chased off by the resident Acorn Woodpeckers if it got near the sanctuary (near the Acord Woodpeckers’ granary). The Acorn Woodoeckers drove it back toward Ash Canyon Rd/Muffin Ln. Poor distant cropped photo I was lucky to get only one shot, but it shows red face and pink belly. Looking at the photos of the LEWO originally reported by Chris Harbard along nearby E Mountain View Rd, it appears to be a different individual since that bird was a drab immature with a brown face and this one shows a red face and pink belly.
