Birds were calling constantly so that made it an easy ID, not a low honking but higher cackling or warbling sound, described as yodeling in field guides, but they came close enough to see more rounded head shape, bill slightly concave shape, minimal contact of the black from bill with the eye, and in photos the yellow bill spot appeared on bill in front of eye on a number of the birds.
