Photo of banded bird sent to snowy plover banding group. Response: Anholt, Allison (DFW) Hi Mark- Thanks so much for the band report! That band looks like light blue but I think it’s the lighting. We banded blue violet:white violet this past summer at Grayland Beach State Park as a chick, one of 26 chicks fledged at this site this season! But the other banded bird only extended one leg. Here is interpretation: Thanks! I can’t tell exactly which bird that is, but I can tell you that it was banded by the Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe just a couple miles south of Grayland Beach. Like WDFW, they have initiated (re-initiated, in our case) a banding program beginning last summer 2024 on chicks only, so that’s either a fledge from this summer or last. SBIT was assigned Gray over Red as a left leg combination, and any 2 colors on the right leg. WDFW was assigned Blue over Violet and Blue over White left leg combinations, and any 2 colors on the right leg. If you have any BV or BW combinations, please feel free to send them to me directly- any data is super useful!
