Detalles de la observación
This Solitary Vireo was reported as a likely Blue-Headed by Marty Freeland this morning. I arrived at about 10:25 and met up with Marty, Chris Hayward and Gary Deghi where we got good views of the bird in the upper reaches of a walnut tree, being followed around by a TOWA - both feeding on small caterpillars. Fall Solitary Vireos are in their freshest plumage, and separating BHVI from bright CAVI is difficult in the field. This. bird seems to tick the boxes for BHVI - dark gray head with sharp contrast to white eye-ring and lores - a sharp demarcation betweeh the gray auricular feathers and white throat, which is more gradient on CAVI - and a bright white belly with more yellow wash than a typical CAVI. Nonetheless I'm open to feedback. I think Marty's photos were closer to eye-level.
