Poor record shot, but does show apparently unstreaked and olive-toned mantle and coverts
Detalles de la observación
Yesterday evening’s bird again found near the Chalet. Initially flushed when flew around building - looked long-tailed. Very elusive - brief views at distance and against light when briefly landed on the road and in roadside grass at Barkland, but conforming to behaviour of seeking cover much more than any Tree Pipit again. A few record photos obtained: all I managed was very poor in flight photos, but both show quite striking olive mantle and upper wing coverts, and one shows a hint of the white super/ear spot. Fortunately was relocated by Alex Penn about 2 hours after we left the island and good photos obtained. Tom's much better record photos which we couldn't review till on Shetland show features well enough as well as an excellent and diagnostic recording of the call.
