Tough photo, but it was the best I could get. You can see the thin bill on the right, as well as make out the tan eyebrow and rich dark chest.
Detalles de la observación
Continuing Brenner find! (41.2209, -103.8167) Incredibly skulky, tiny wren, rich dark brown all over with a bold tan eyebrow, very short tail, and long thin bill. The belly was a buffier brown, lacking grayish coloration and patterning of WIWR. Only gave 2 call notes, but they were higher pitched and slightly squeakier than WIWR. After 30 minutes of searching, I saw something scurry across the ground, I wasn't sure it was even a bird until it popped up on the lowest branch of a small conifer and gave two quick harsh call notes. It was so close I could barely get my bins on it, but it gave great looks for a few seconds before going back into hiding. I managed just one obscured photo before it flew. I spent the rest of the effort trying to relocate it for a better photo to no avail. After the initial encounter, it was not responsive to pishing or call playback. Lifer and year #350!!!
