Detalles de la observación
Confusing (to me) hummer: A large grayish hummingbird perched in oak tree near feeder and looked around, craning its neck upward: looked slightly bigger than the Rivoli's present, and had a blue-spangled throat, gray belly, green wing coverts, white line extending behind eye and another white line extending back from gape; black tail ample with white tips and not notched. Tried to make it a Blue-throated mountain gem? Merlin audio ID'd sound as BTMG simultaneous with sighting, but I can't distinguish its call. On reviewing photo, presence of dark feathers coming in on scaly breast seems to indicate juvenile Rivoli's, despite cobalt blue throat flash (doesn't show up well in photo, but was very obvious in real time) and Merlin audio suggestion. Rivoli's much more to be expected here. Just going to leave all these observations here.
