We first detected it giving its "biddy-biddy-biddy" call, then saw it. Nuthatch that was white below (including face which made the black eye stand out), blue-gray above except for the black crown. Chisel-like bill. Creeping around on the trees in typical nuthatch fashion. This is the earliest ever fall White-breasted Nuthatch for the county (September 10 previously) and only about the tenth county record that I am aware of.
