Detalles de la observación
Appears to be very recently deceased, based on the intact condition of the carcass. Initially assumed to be Greater Shearwater similar to two other dead seabirds observed (not reported) in the last two weeks near this location, but closer examination revealed a long stout black bill lacking the distinctive tube-nose of Shearwaters. Located at the high tide line a couple hundred yards south of the CNWR North OSV beach access point with falling tide, SW winds 10-15. We fully appreciate that dead birds are not “reportable” as a matter of principle, but somebody, somewhere would appreciate knowing about a recently deceased Murre some thousand miles out of its typical seasonal range - plz pass it on. Photos to follow. Completely open to guidance on a more effective way to report this observation.
