Detalles de la observación
Recently? (this winter?) eroded high river bank on east margin of Eel River was host to at least 100 birds entering multiple holes. Brownish breast bands were seen and call was unlike that of Rough-winged Swallow (drier and scratchier). Did not see or hear any Rough-winged Swallows mixed in with them. A known BANS colony has in the past been located about 0.75 mi upstream. I don't know if that colony is still active. I took several photos of both the nesting bank and a group of birds perched on woody debris in the river. Brownish swallows with brown breast band (not a faint wash as in RWSW) that set off white throat. Unforked tail.
