chick watching the world go by perched in box opening. parents nearby.

Heading towards fledging. Probably less than a week before they are off. The chicks are increasingly active in the nest box opening. Both now use begging calls. Alert to their surroundings. The female parent (Hoot) still remains in box opening large number of hours per day. The male is perched nearby. Hoot, however, is leaving the nest earlier in the evening and the chicks are spending more time by themselves.
