Detalles de la observación
I hesitated in reporting this bird to ebird due to only having a poor documentation photo, but after reviewing the photo and other species options I've become a lot more comfortable with the ID. Photo is attached. Immediately upon observation the beak stood out. I wanted to call it a blue grosbeak, but the size and coloration didn't fit the ID. This size of the bird was indistinguishable from the house finches that were in the tree next to it. And the coloration more of a light brown wash than the rusty color of a blue grosbeak. I was able to get one photo with my phone before a vehicle spooked it into the date trees on the other side of the road. Did not have time to refind. I also considered that all previous reports in the US have been considered exotic/escapees, but with this bird being a female and as remote as it is, it felt more likely this could be a wild bird.
