Detalles de la observación
Heard scratchy calling from the scrub within 30 yards of the Loggerhead Shrike perch. We had walked north and then returned that way. At that point there is a sandy trail that intersections with paved Legacy Trail. Walked about 50 yards along the the trail to get closer to the jay-sized and shaped bird. It was a Scrub-Jay perched on some palmetto. It continued to call and also flicked its tail upward. Then it dropped into the scrub for a minute and eventually popped back up. I was able to observe it for approximately two minutes. This individual was pearl gray on its breast and abdomen Head, wings and tail were a cerulean blue, maybe, lighter blue than our Blue Jays in Rochester, New York. No crest like a Blue Jay. Got a Merlin recording. We’ll have to see how it turns out.
