NOTES: (Breeding Status: Unknown. Behav. Context: Robbing Western Kingbird nest. Frequency of Sound: Sporadic. Gen. Climate: Dry. Cover Density: Medium.) The Western Kingbirds were building a nest and the Phainopepla came in when they were away to take material from the nest. A couple of times one or the other kingbird caught up with hiim and chased him. These sounds were not made while he was at the nest, but after he'd flown off and was perched a considerable distance away. [This recording has three parts, the first representing Song, the second the "Wurp" Calls of BNA, and the third has some of the "Harsh Churr Notes" of BNA (in addition to a few calls fo Tyrannus verticalis). Quality changed from 3 to 2, 2-3 - CAM - 15 December 2004]. Response to playback: No response. Habitat: Deciduous Forest, Desert, Thicket/Brush, Scrub.
