Detalles de la observación
Very yellow. Tear drop. Crested. Video available. Our CBC group was hiking a single-track hiking trail when we came to a site at the transition of a floodplain forest and juniper-oak woodland. Two years prior we had a Fox Sparrow at this exact location and conducted playback of a Fox Sparrow, for grins. After a few minutes a brilliant gold/yellow flycatcher appeared within 10-ft. It perched and observed our group, with everyone getting good looks while we began to try and figure out what it could be. It flew out and another participant played a pacific slope flycatcher recording and the bird reappeared. It never vocalized. I recorded a video with my cell phone through my binoculars and use phone-based software settings to stabilize the video. Notes from visual observation and video review are the brilliant yellow color of its front. Entire bill appeared orange, i.e. the upper mandible did not appear dark. Head shape was consistently crested and eye-ring was significantly tapered/tear-drop. The bird flew away after a few minutes.
