Detalles de la observación
Unmistakable dotterel. 2.2 miles shy of Hamelin bay Alone on the beach moving around. Poor picture with iPhone. Tan Rust underside. Striking black bar vertical right before eye. Black chest band wrapping around neck to back of neck. Clean white margins on chest, then tan underside, white face, black eye and vertical bar. Very clean and bold markings. This sighting while hiking Cape to Cape track. Before that hiked Bibbulmun track section Albany to Walpole. Many miles of beach, walking, the whole time with my compact Leica on chest harness. Amazing dirth of shore birds With all the beach walking. Just a very few redcap plover, hooded plovers, ruddy turnstones only twice, one common sandpiper. Of course many sooty and pied oystercatchers. I have never seen this dottetel before but was obvious what it was. Picture is a still taken from a video shot on an I Phone SE. The video (not posted) shows the bird moving. The second picture is of the beach area where the bird was.
