Very active group, flying up, circling round, then flying back to surface of pond again, landing on area with considerable surface vegetation, apparently foraging on something at the surface, then flying up again. Repeated this several times while we were there. Hard to count the group, but took a photo of what I estimate to be half the group, counted 27 and doubled that for group size estimate. In retrospect, I wish I had pulled the telephoto back to try and get the full group in one shot.
