Small gull initially seen bathing in lagoon near where it enters beach. Bird flew to wide dry beach, but remained isolated by 50+ m. from the huge, mixed species gull flock there. Gull white below, but gray/brown over crown, posterior neck, back; upper wings distinctive tri-color with black tips, continued gray/brown over much of broad inner wing, with bright white triangle beginning near P7, broadest at elbow, tapering back to end medially.. Tail distorted by oil involving tip, with black smudge and fused feathers. Oil also on back/base of tail where small area of pink flesh also present--injury or raw from bird pulling damaged feathers.
