Continuing, first reported by Jeff Todoroff and George Ziminsky, apparently found by a German tourist! When we arrived the bird was taking off from East Pond where it was first sighted, flying off to the west. Not seeing the bird on West Pond, we scanned McDaniel Slough and found it with a small flock of Green-winged Teal, allowing for nice side-by-side comparisons. Bold facial pattern most obvious field mark, with two pale stripes crossing above and below the eye, and a dark line through eye. Throat contrastingly white, tertials with crisp gray edging giving a very fresh and scaly appearance. Underparts more finely patterned than GWTE, with a rich rufous wash on upper breast.
