Detalles de la observación
Continuing (*presumably 2nd cycle immature): watched for 2 hours where RFBO was primarily actively preening on PTMSC rooftop amidst hundreds of Heermann’s Gulls. About an hour into observing, the bird took flight to forage for fish in the adjacent water near the pier for approximately 20 minutes…..the timing being a pattern that RFBO has been repeating with respect to these 20min feeding breaks. It then returned to the rooftop farther towards the end of the building (*as opposed to the more central position it’s been inhabiting the past few days), where it continued preening. It’s feeding frequency and uptick in preening activity today may signal that this bird is readying to move onwards to another location. In comparison to the past few days, wherein it was resting on the rooftop more so than preening, it seems to be becoming restless in some regards. Regardless, the birding fanfare continues, with many birders continuing to come daily to witness this special visitor.
