Detalles de la observación
Photographed this bird in the wake of the Gray-headed Kite, on the same thermal, from the grounds of the cabañas. After identifying it as Black-and-White Hawk Eagle I then realized the similarity between immature GH kite and this species (almost as if the imm. phase of the kite mimics the eagle). Until I got a better look at the photos I then assumed what I had had was two kites, an adult and an imm. In fact, I was right the first time. The black lores and crisp white leading edges to the wings are marks of the eagle. Interesting to ponder the plumage mimicry, especially given the association between the two species witnessed here. I wish had photos of both birds in the same frame.
