NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 20. Bulk reel: 129Weather: Cloudy, fair.a) 6:25 PM. Natural song, bird in distance. This bird sometimes sings (- _ _) and other times (-_ _ _). It so happens that in this recording it sings mostly the latter.Also heard are calls of Tachyphorus luctuosus and on occasion call by Microcerculus marginatus. Quality: 2. Level: +10.b) Bird now closer, no doubt as result of my whistling its song. Quality: 2. Level: +10.Its voice now has a hoarse quality, also probably due to tension caused by my whistling. Quality: 1-2. Level: +10.Then bird closer still. It sings both types of song but mostly with the three-note ending. Quality: 1. Level: +5.c) 7:00 PM. Same bird later, no further playback. Voice now not hoarse (but some interference by cicadas, etc.). Quality: 1-2. Level: +5.Then after playback of preceding part one song and some calls. (Nearly dark.) Ara chloroptera also heard. Quality: 1-2. Level: +5. Response to playback: Approach.
