Windy. Chips.
Detalles de la observación
Heard what sounded like an oddly variant Lazuli bunting song while driving. Thought to myself, "Hmm, wonder if that might be an Indigo. Habitat is good..." Flipped the car around and sure enough, fortune smiled on us. A restless male Indigo was singing from the bushes (sometimes even on top of them) on both sides of the road. Damn thing wouldn't sit still in the open for any length of time (unlike Lazuli buntings, which appear completely confident in showing off their colors), so it was hard to get a decent photo. Did get several recordings of its songs and chips. What photos I did manage will be uploaded soon. -- body all deep blue with darker wings and tail (some brown tones in wing tips) -- conical bill with silver tones near base (tip a bit hooked) -- no wing bars -- somewhat scruffy individual FOY
