Detalles de la observación
With some rain and the sky full of clouds, I had hoped to find a good number of shorebirds earlier this AM, but only two Semipalmated Plovers showed. So, when Jerod Skebo advised that there was some 35 Semipalm Sandpipers, I went back out to see them. When I got to the parking lot behind the beach, the birds were resting on the parking lot, many of them laid down, giving the impression of tired birds or ones that wanted absorb the heat from the pavement, or both. I tried to count all of the birds when they were together, although the flock splintered several times, and I eventually got a high count of 53, so it would seem that more birds were coming down even as I was there. They were extremely confiding, and at one point after they moved to the beach and started feeding, some came within a few feet of me, as if I was not there. Maybe that also was an indication of being tired. Photos taken with my phone are best I could get.
