Detalles de la observación
I realize that these are horrible photos, but putting in a list of Buteo sp. won't get people looking up or searching to confirm this observation. I saw two hawks in the road about 1/4 mile apart. On Elk Rd. (between CR 360 and CR380). I had good looks at the first when it flew a short distance and landed in a field about 50 yards away. Initial thought was a dark falcon, having extensive markings (mustache) on the face. The bird overall was much too dark. other markings: dark throat and a white bib, otherwise overall a very dark bird. Further separating it from a falcon, was its slow (lazy) flapping when it went airborne. Flipping through Sibley when I returned home I found that the juvenile White-tailed Hawk to be dead on to what I saw. If this cannot be confirmed I am willing to return it to Buteo Sp.
