Had a fierce internal "mind fight" but decided to put this bird as falcon.sp. This bird flew across us while we were observing a duo of Field Sparrow. I immediately noticed this bird that has narrow wings and a weak flappy flight style. Its size and flight style led me to think that it was a Mourning Dove for the initial second. As it approached me, I realized that this was absolutely not a dove. I lifted my camera and snapped a few pics as when it already flew away from us. The pictures show no color, but its flight style, the general "weakness", and tail length all points towards Kestrel. It was definitely not a Peregrine Falcon, and definitely was a falcon. This leaves us with Merlin and Kestrel. I have no clue which one it was.... The time of the year suggests
