Detalles de la observación
Continuing rarity. Bird has very worn plumage but is acquiring new feathers. Pictures show very thin narrow bill, extensive white cap, and worn greater coverts creating a light area prominent on flight. This is typical for the time of year according to Sibley. Picture 8559 shows severely worn tail but with two new central gray feathers. Tide higher than any in my experience, parking area under water. Each new wave delivered more water so it almost reached the pavement. One had to wade the tidal waters to reach the jetty which was wet with wave spray or wave crashing over the rocks. A dramatic experience to see this rare bird.
