**very rare; 😍😍😍~39th record for Texas, and only the third found in spring; first heard giving full song (a loud “sew sew sew WEEsew”) initially passed off as a weird HOWA song. It seemed weird to me but it was the best I could come up with. Then heard the dry tick calls and rattles distantly and thought I might have a BBIH or somethin. Then it clicked… It was a freaking Golden-crowned Warbler, singing from the TOP OF AN OAK TREE. Bud is very lost and couldn’t even choose good habitat smh. Audio of both the song and calls tba. Fairly small warbler with long flicky tail, orange legs, yellow underparts, blue gray back feathers, and stripey head with characteristic golden orange crown stripe flared out in the rain. Just hung out on the street up high in the oaks, never coming below the canopy. Way weird…
