Detalles de la observación
The eBird data entry form indicated that this report for 550 Sandhills was unusual for this date and location. Local observers disagree as we have closely watched this spectacle for more than half a century. It is not a high count for this date and location. It's typical for this date and location during recent years for the spring migration. What is more, the trend has been declining during the past decade. Maybe some day our observations will be recognized and respected. This morning the rancher told us that there were 2,000 to 3,000 Sandhills in his fields. My report however is more modest and limited to an interval that began at 4PM then ended at 6:30PM while several flocks arrived. From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM the members in my group of bird watchers (4 birders plus the rancher) observed these flocks circle once or twice over the field then they landed in the first field. The estimation of flock sizes were: 1x100; 1x150; 1x250; 1x50; See my pictures for more information about the location and habitat.
