Detalles de la observación
***very rare. Traits intermediate between Tufted Duck and Greater Scaup, resembling either a Greater Scaup with a dark gray back and small tuft, or a nearly tuftless Tufted Duck with a slightly paler gray back. The back was smooth and a darker gray than nearby scaup but not black. The sides were a stark white similar to nearby scaup. The bill showed no hint of strong patterning as would be expected on Ring-necked Duck. The head had small crest that extended beyond the usual peak of Aythya, which was exaggerated when the bird's crown was flattened. The head was deep toward the back and iridescent green in good light. White in wings was bright and extensive across the secondaries into the first primaries.
