Detalles de la observación
An interesting bird, clearly either a marginally pure American or a high Jehl score hybrid. It was with the Black Oysrercatchers on the small pocket beach near the red 4 channel marker, here: (34.1580767, -119.2241589), viewed from the walking path. Photos suggest this is a different bird than the one that’s been reported as a hybrid off and on at the Ventura harbor, as this bird has clean white flanks and thighs, and more extensive white on the chest with less mottling; additionally I saw it in flight and it had clean white underwings. There is some dark mottling on the under tail coverts, and the upper tail coverts were mostly dark. I will do some more research and try to come up with a Jehl score and update the ID of this bird accordingly.
