Detalles de la observación
These rather shy birds were common around the village. Unlike our familiar Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) we did not hear these birds mimic, although they are apparently capable of doing so. This species differs from its northern cousin in that it lacks large white patches on its wings and has faint streaking on its flanks. They were quite frustrating, singing from the interior of dense trees. We heard several, but I only managed to photograph this one. In our experience, populations in Middle America are much more outgoing and conspicuous. Grenadine birds are the darker M. g. antillarum which is endemic to the Lesser Antilles characterized by pale gray breast, broad faint wing bars and dark eyes.
