Detalles de la observación
*scarce on LI, though relatively regular- including in pre-CBC weeks- and a great addition to the CMB checklist. Found by Francisco Rodriguez a half hour or so before I arrived. I was able to reconnect with it a little further to the west, but the bird seemed to be favoring the southern edge of the trees at the northern limits of the marsh. Popped out a few times to pishing and sat motionless but seen well: yellow tanager with large, pale bill and minimal contrast between wing colors and back/body (as in SCTA/WETA). It was quite a bright bird as well. It called a few times, too. A call I have never heard before (ie not pit-tuck, etc.), but I assume it is a flight-call-type thing: a very soft "jree," which was too faint to record. Photos to be added.
