Continuing second SCZ County record. Monster ID by M. Freeland. We were on our way to try for the BHGU and got the alert. Serendipitously, we were only 20 mins away. We walked up and Marty and Co. were on the little wintering gem. We watched it approximately here (37.053675, -122.060488) before it flew downstream. During the brief time we were there, we spoke to at least one homeowner who popped out on his deck with binoculars. He joined the club of people that were very stoked. Immediately noted the pinkish/buff hue (depending on light) along the flanks when first viewing the bird. Other features that help separate from NOWA are the blurry streaking on the breast and noticeable broad, bright white supercilium, flaring at the rear. Bobbing side to side/circularly throughout. The bird called a few times and gave a high pitched flight call as it took off downstream. Super rad. *CBRC Submission #2024-002
