Had good views at close range, although this bird remained partly concealed in the marshy vegetation through most of the observation. Wren with dark cap and dark stripe behind the eye and pale tannish underparts. Had a cocked barred tail, brownish barring on the wings, and dark patch on the back. Attempted to take photos, but only managed to get one poor shot. (My digital camera at the time wasn't very good.) Was making frequent "chit" calls during the observation, which is what first drew my attention -- a response to my initial pishing.
