Male distinctive and colorful with head crest; female similar size with distinctive tear-shaped white eye ring markings. 5 people in the McClaren area counted the ducks on their ponds at exactly 7 am so we could get an accurate count. The Wood Ducks move freely around the neighborhood, and have been increasing in numbers over the past few years and breeding in local ponds too.
