See e-bird checklist for details. Because this and the preceding calls were delivered in response to my NSWO imitation, I've logged this recording as "playback used." I've described these calls as "tooting yelps" because the quality of each note sounded intermediate between toots and yelps.
Detalles de la observación
Late in the 7th minute at stop 4 (0.85), after my final bout of tooting, a NSWO gave a series of 5 rapid yelpls: YELP-yelp-YELP, YELP, YELP (in other words, a three-calls series with the second note less emphatic, then two separate yelps). At the 10-minute mark, hoping to draw it closer so that I could record it, I gave a 30-sec bout of NSWO toots, waited one minute, then gave another 30-sec bout. Late in the 13th minute, ~30 sec after that final bout, a NSWO gave two bursts of chatter, and one burst of chittering at close range, all within 20 seconds, and delivered as the bird moved past me and across the road from NE to SW. At least the second call was definitely given in flight as the bird crossed the road. ~30 sec after that, a NSWO (presumably but not definitely the same individual) gave 5 "tooting" yelps fairly close but to the SE. I stayed until the third 5-minute period was done, but did not hear anything else.
