Continuing from yesterday, in deep-water channel well southeast of D4 (the Dabbling and Diving Duck Deck). More easily seen from the northbound South-Loop road, directly northwest of Audio 9 sign, here: (33.7850133, -106.8873341). Small, compact duck, constantly diving. This immature male has a predominantly white head, neck, and throat. Large black patch on face and side of upper neck (below and behind eye). Eyes dull yellowish-brown. Some buffy wash on face, ahead of and above eye. Bill pinkish-gray basally, orangish-pink distally, with black tip. Upper breast lightly mottled (black on white), with white belly. Upper back, lower back, and middle of rump black; sides of rump white. Upperwings entirely black, with long, pointed, pearly-gray scapulars. Rectrices narrow, and black. Legs and feet black.
