Detalles de la observación
Note that the tail band is shorter than wide, even considering the fore-shortening as viewed from these angle, suggesting black tips to the upper tail coverts. At most only a shallow notch in the tail. The ID of Band-rumped was confirmed by Peter Pyle: "I think the not molting bird looks good for Band-rumped, even though it may be late in Hawaiian waters(?). I agree with you that it looks like the undertail coverts may be tipped black. Tail shape especially looks good for BRSP." The bird is carrying something in its bill--food?
