Detalles de la observación
Estimated (and conservative) count. The photo is actually of a bird I found later in the day on the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir, just north of the Mead, but this is the species I saw many of at the Mead while at South Rice Lake. I noted the shape and length of the slightly downcurved bill, leg color which was a greenish-yellow, and general size which was slightly smaller than the nearby Lesser Yellowlegs that all these birds were associating with. Also feeding motion was like that of a dowitcher, straight up and down with their butts up high. Many of these birds were scattered around the lake, but most were in smaller groups of just a few birds, but one group was around 15 birds.
