Detalles de la observación
Upon my arrival, the vireo was heard vocalizing, with short phrases every few seconds – I was alerted by Thomas Wurster that it was in a eucalyptus in the northwest portion of the Nature Area. In addition to Tom, Shirley Reynolds and Edana Salisbury were on the bird. We were soon joined by Carol Maxwell, and it was Carol and Tom who were very helpful in getting visuals. In the overcast, morning light the vireo appeared pale below, drab and dark above, with no wingbars, a relatively long bill, and an obvious pale eyebrow. After looking at distant, obstructed photos, there may have been a very slight yellowish wash to the undertail coverts. The bird was again spotted after 9:00 by several birders, this time just outside the Nature Area in the trees around Parking Lot H.
