Detalles de la observación
We were strolling along, deep in discussion, when I suddenly stopped short in absolute astonishment!! There, plopped in a feathery ball right in the middle of the road, was about the last thing I expected to see... A BUTT0N-QUAIL, unmoving except for it's blinking surprise and slight cocking of its head, in the middle of the night!!! She (for she was a splendid and richly-coloured female) didn't move an inch as we reined the dog in... in fact, she was so immobile that there was some debate whether she'd accidentally been hit by a car; I said that this sort of road-sitting is a common sight for Button-Quails, warming themselves on the concrete at night, but just to be safe I headed back to the house to get my camera, a shoe-box, and some towels in case the little lady needed some help. I think the photos speak for themselves as to whether she was there when I got back...
