Detalles de la observación
Originally thought this was a juvenile Goshawk, but after seeing the wing shape and looking at our pictures it proved otherwise. First saw the hawk cruising just above the tree tops over our heads where it then landed in a snag. Saw a banded tail with a few thick bands, and a crisp white supercilium, which led us to think it was a Goshawk. After a few minutes in the snag it took off to the North and over a hill where we lost it for the time being. A few minutes later we re-found the same hawk circling high over head, letting us get great looks at the under-wing and tail. The bird had dark tips on the primaries and secondaries, dark streaks on the sides of the chest and two dark tailbands. Overall color of the underside was creamy white with a few dark spots, the top of the wings were light brown with large white spots.
