female-immature plumage

2 female-immature type Cassin’s finches briefly visited feeder as they did yesterday, today joined by an adult male. today they visited twice, each visit a few minutes before flying away. the male stayed in a tree, did not come down to ground level. monitored for hours until sunset, searched nearby trees and yards. unable to relocate or figure out where they were coming from or going to. they did not vocalize.
