Banded: Black-back / blue-fed

Extremely rare, but this is a known area for a handful of individuals — incredible views of these birds today after waiting a while to pick up on their calls. Two unbanded adult plumage seen well simultaneously, one banded adult plumage: black black, blue fed. 1 unbanded juvenile with white around eyes hanging especially close to the banded adult-type, at times doing wing-fluttering (begging?) display. all generally in the same area, calling frequently. All birds displaying overall gray plumage with pinkish bills, pinkish legs, and nuthatch-style foraging behavior. Adult-types with dark gray surrounding eyes
