NOTES: (Bkground Sounds: Song of captive Scotinomys teguina. Species Sound or Soc. Contact: Frequent. Breeding Status: Breeding. Behav. Context: Parent-young contact. Sound Delivery Rate: Normal? Gen. Climate: Wet. Cut length ~2.) I saw Mom heading back over the rafters towards the nest. Turned on the tape. The neonate continued to vocalize, but Mom remained up in the rafters out of sight for 3-4 minutes. I turned off the tape, then when Mom headed down to the nest, turned it back on. There was a loud squeak, then I heard the same chatter from the neonate as previously recorded. Then silence. I did not hear the vocalization again that evening. I think the neonate chatter may be the faint, rapid, high-pitched chirp or trill that Birkenholz and Wirtz (1965), J. Mamm. 46(2):181-189 speak of. Tape 3 of 3. Social Context: Family. Habitat: Cloudforest, Evergreen Forest, Riparian.
