Peent, ascent wing twitter, melodious descent, CANG
Detalles de la observación
See checklist comments section for map. At 6:02 p.m. (26 minutes after sundown) I heard the first peent call. I was near the bridge on the west end of the "main stem" trail. Within a few minutes, more calls came from all directions. Soon, some of the peents calls were replaced by the wing twitter as the males ascended in their spiral flight. I also heard the melodic calls as the birds descended. There were at least six birds south of the bridge and eight to the north. This is a conservative total number - for example, when I was south of the bridge, I heard six birds in that area simultaneously (sounds of three peent, two ascending, and one descending). There likely were more than those I could hear at one time. I would have stayed longer but I had to leave. Wind of 20mph complicated recording audio.
