Stunning first state record continuing in the area. I believe this bird to be an Adult female by the white stomach and lack of a blue base to the yellow bill. It is of the nominate Atlantic subspecies by the darker brown head/neck compared to the rest of the upperparts. Met a wonderfully kind man named Bruce who took me out in his boat for photographs. True to its name, The bird was incredibly calm the whole time we were photographing, often preening and not paying close attention to us. The bird remained on its favorite perch the whole time we were photographing it, and remained there as we paddled away.
