Detalles de la observación
Pair calling back-and-forth at the Juan Grande Bridge. I was surprised at just how small and compact this raptor is. Although the pair was calling naturally, we were only able to finally see it after employing playback, at which point the pair flew into the canopy of a nearby tree and called at regular intervals (first one, then the other). They then relocated to the top of a large canopy snag before vacating the area. As this was only the second time that I've seen this species, I was also surprised how comfortable it seemed in the canopy of the forest; I had figured it more for a midstory/subcanopy species.
