Detalles de la observación
Adult bird, originally seen by Doug Willis on 12.25.12. Saw very dark eagle being harassed by many crows. He flew to the ground about 100 yards away from me trying to ward off the crows, then perched in a tree for 30 minutes. later flying towards me again and then into a tree further away. Obvious golden nape shining in the sun. Smaller head than bald eagle and no white on this guy's tail or underwing, denoting an adult golden eagle. When he flew at me, he was eye level, so I never got to see the two-toned underwing, but I did see there was no white and I saw he had buffy undertail coverts. I watched him through the scope for nearly an hour and have some distance pics, mainly showing lack of whiteness and the golden nape shining in the sun. Local hunters stopped to chat and said there have been many eagles in the area thanks to a heap of deer carcasses less than half a mile from where this eagle was viewed, so that may be why he is sticking around. I drove to the deer carcass area and saw no other eagles.
